PRE-SEASON TRAINING SHOW

2009 PRE-SEASON TRAINING SHOW

A “Pre-Season Training Show” will be held on Friday 20th February which should be in most children’s half term holidays.

The venue is Merrist Wood which should be easily accessible for most of our members and there will be two sections, one for Show classes and one for Working Hunter classes.

The Showing classes section will be instructed by Penny Hollings and the Working Hunter classes section by Jane Beswick.

Each section will be divided into subsections by pony height with the number per subsection limited to ensure all attendees get a reasonable amount of individual attention.

Details and an Entry Form will be available in hardcopy from the Show Secretary and on this website in the near future so watch this space.

The Pre-Season Training Show is basically instruction and training in showing techniques by top show judges but in a showing environment with stewards, judges and multiple ponies in the ring at the same time.   It is held to help riders with practical advice on improving both their turnout and way of going for the forthcoming showing season. Places are generally full so book early.  All participants seem to enjoy themselves and learn a few things to improve their performance.

Classes are held for Lead Rein, Open Show Pony and Show Hunter combinations, First Ridden and Intermediates.

2008 Feedback

The Pre-Season Training Show on February 20th 2008 at Sparsholt College was a great success and we are particularly grateful to Penny Hollings for coming all the way from Blackburn to teach all day.  We had 42 ponies over 5 classes and everyone voted it a huge success.

"Thank you from Willow Tarrant to BSPS Area 8 and Penny Hollings for the great training day.  Very valuable and much enjoyed.  Marian and Willow Tarrant.

Hector and Hartley Crouch were very grateful for Penny's kind, gentle approach which Mum said it worked wonders on her boy who had been a bit nervous after some incident the previous week.  She asked me to pass on how well you put the boys at ease, and they learnt a lot, she said one of them knew he was doing a figure of eight now and had drawn the shape in the trailer (sweet!).

Katie came home from Penny's Masterclass with some new tips which she will put into practice now, she just wished there had been more time to pick her brains.............. so you will have to organise another one!

SPRING SHOW
