Profiles
Amy Allen and Cot Salvador (sam)
Rider: Amy Allen
Age: 8 years old
Classes: Lead rein/first ridden
Pony: Sam (Cot Salvador)
Type: Chestnut Gelding
Height: 122cms
Amy and her pony Sam have been together just three years, but in this time they’ve built up an amazing relationship with each other. Sam has become a real member of the family undoubtedly the biggest personality of our four horses in the yard-he is a regular in the feed bin and often sneaks into other stables just to check no food has been left in the mangers-he also waits under the apple tree in his paddock for Amy to shake the apples down!
This year was the last for Amy and Sam in lead rein, however they have certainly done themselves justice in this class, having already qualified for HOYS when we brought him, the partnership then qualified for RIHS every year and achieving a top ten position twice, there is simply not enough room for all their red rosettes and sashes.
Sam has always been home produced and we have competed as a family with Amy’s two brothers and dad going to every show, sometimes as many as 30 shows in a year.
It is now time for Sue to hang up her lead rein and summon up the courage to let Amy progress into First ridden in 2011. It is never easy to watch your 8 year old daughter ride off into the ring by herself, yet Amy couldn’t have had a better start to her riding career than the one she has been given by her best friend “Sam”.
We owe a huge thanks to all our friends in Area 8 for their continued support at shows and the hard work that goes into organising area social events and shows. Special thanks are also owed to Team Ramsey- Helen, James, Harry and Hannah Horton and Marjorie and Richard Ramsey, for all the many hours of lessons, and a great deal of fun and laughter.
